Debate is open for a bill that would cause 32 million to lose insurance, according to the CBO. A vote is planned to take place today. So far, Republicans have not found any success whatsoever when it comes to replacing the ACA in the Senate, and they only marginally opened debate over whether or not to even discuss the issue. The President has been largely inconsistent when it comes to the issue. It seems that this is a pointless attempt to discuss the issue again when still no consensus has been made and there is no compromise in sight. Even … Continue reading The Senate votes on a clean repeal of Obamacare. Again.
Kellyanne Conway, on CNN, said that Russia is not “a big story”. Wow. So the undisclosed meetings by Jeff Sessions, to the Don Jr. debacle, to the undisclosed second meeting with Putin at the G20, and all the other shady Russian business with the Trump campaign are not a “big story”? I beg to disagree. Meanwhile, Scaramucci, on the same network, said that the mainstream media is focused on “nonsensical” stories as well as that the President is not sure Russia meddled in the US election. Then you have Trump on Twitter screaming “Fake News” and touting Obama-driven economic success! … Continue reading The Trump team must be living in an alternate reality
Today on Fox News Sunday, the “conservative” outlet continued advancing the President’s agenda by asking the new WH communications director if the media is putting out “Fake news” to bring down the Trump administration. I’m speechless. If you turn on Fox News, you’ll hear something completely different from MSNBC, and even CNN. It’s as if they live in an alternate reality over there. They are not reporting objectively, as they are attempting to advance a Trumpian agenda. The biggest spokesperson for the President is in fact Sean Hannity himself, now that Bill O’Reilly is out. It’s not to say that … Continue reading Dear Trump & Co. : Quit screaming “Fake News”
Sean Hannity is back at it again with the Fake News attacks. He got into it with CNN’s Jake Tapper on twitter for, you guessed it, reporting (the job of a journalist). This one came out of Trump’s playbook : attack CNN on Twitter. It is baffling to think that one journalist, and yes, Sean Hannity is still a journalist, is attacking another for simply reporting. Calling CNN fake news will only fire up Hannity’s audience (a.k.a. the Trump base) even more about the media, which they do not trust already. Fox News and its hosts (with the exception of … Continue reading Sean Hannity attacks the media – although he’s a member of it
He struggled in the polls during the general election, then went on to beat Hillary Clinton. Now, Donald Trump, President of the United States, is facing the lowest job approval rating of any president at this time since polling began. Ouch. However, the story among his base is different. According to the same poll, 82% of Republicans approve of the job that Trump is doing. The Trump base will see these poll numbers and simply push them off as coming from a “liberal” (used as a pejorative) news outlet, and even call it fake news. That is because the ride-or-die … Continue reading The Republican base will never let go of support for the President. Ever.
The free press is the foundation of democracy, the voice of the American people, and a vital piece of American politics. Not if you ask the president. Yes, he called it the enemy of the American people back in February and has continually waged war against the “mainstream media” along with a host of conservative commentators. He has specifically targeted CNN, as seen in a violent video where he beat a man with the CNN logo imposed on his face to the ground. He has called it #FakeNews, #FraudNews, as well as #FNN. This is childish at best. Actions like … Continue reading Trump’s war on the media is disgraceful.
Democrat Jon Ossoff lost the special election in Georgia last month, tallying Democrats’ losses up to four since Trump was elected. Many of the seemingly successful ads tied Ossoff to Nancy Pelosi, the Minority Leader in the house, who has been labelled a “Hollywood liberal” among other things. This devastating loss in a red district which Democrats thought they actually had a shot at has driven some voices in the party to call for a change in leadership. In recent years, the party has progressively moved farther and farther left as the base has become more aggressive in their standing, … Continue reading The Democratic Party needs change. Now.
